So what are the leading expert predictions for 2017?
Take a Seat
Popular television personality, designer and planner David Tutera sees a shift away from food stations and toward “stylized tasting menus with tableside service.” He shares, “This let’s you keep the sophistication of your menu, while having a little twist on the traditional sit-down dinner, making it more unique and fun for your guests.”
Celebrity planner Fabrice Orlando notes “over-the-top décor will continue to dominate designs, with special attention made toward vertical space.” Tutera adds, “A new spin to hanging décor will start to emerge in addition to further use of the entire event space, from floor to ceiling, putting more emphasis on the walls or negative space in the reception as well.”
Kicking The Joneses to the Curb
Editor Sara Burnett of Burnett’s Boards says, “There’s going to be less and less pressure to ‘do what so and so did’ and couples will choose to have their weddings exactly as they want, wearing what they want, sticking to a budget, and still having a beautiful, ‘curated’ wedding day.”
Jes Gordon of properFUN notes, “Couples want something that is warm and inviting but also elegant and something that they want their guests to be organically impressed by. Our clients are enjoying rambling floral runners with lots of texture and varied views from all angles so each guest has a different take on the centerpiece. They want to achieve a perfect balance of joy across all five senses.”
May the Force be with ‘I Do’?
Stylist Louise Beukes of B. Loved believes that couples will turn to the popular movies for inspiration including Star Wars Episode VIII and the live remake of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast.
